COVID-19 Report: Indian Subcontinent and South East Asia – 22 April 2020

As you already know, we are dedicated to apprising you on the regulatory developments and other news from India and neighbouring countries that would directly or indirectly impact the Canada-India education space.

So far, we have been sending out weekly reports to brief you on the rapidly evolving situation around the COVID-19 outbreak. But now since the coronavirus curve is showing signs of flattening in Canada even as the Indian government is considering opening businesses in a phased manner, we will release this report on a fortnightly basis.

We hope that our previous reports were helpful for you in decision-making vis-à-vis the May intake. The report, dated April 20th, 2020, reviewed the possible tax implications in India for conducting online classes.

Considering that the time has now come to focus on the September 2020 intake, we will continue to keep you informed about relevant updates. Hopefully, you will find this information helpful to decide on the outreach and recruitment activities.

Initiative at Maple Leaf

1. Enabling team to host virtual events through our digital platforms in collaboration with agents and high schools.

2. Working with the institutions to conduct webinars for prospective students with a focus on September 2020.

3. Organising Live sessions, video series and online promotion through social media handles.

4. International Prospective Student Survey series in partnership with Academica Group to understand the impact of COVID-19 on international students.

5. Conducting another survey to capture the feedback of Agents operating in India and Bangladesh.
