ASIA UPDATES: CBSE Joins Hands With UNICEF To Launch An Online Portal For Career Counselling
- The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in partnership with UNICEF will launch an online portal to guide and counsel students of Class 9 to 12 students in all affiliated schools.
- The Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) signs MoU with International Baccalaureate (IB) to execute IB programmes in 30 Delhi government schools.
- As COVID-19 cases increase among the country’s youth, the Sri Lankan governmentplans to extend the inoculation drive to people aged below 30 years.
- Of the total 2,756 scholarships across the globe, 153 Indian students won the prestigious Erasmus Mundus scholarship for higher education in Europe this year.

AFRICA UPDATES: South Africa Mulls Over Easing Social Distancing Requirements In Schools
- To keep abreast of global practices, the Federal Government of Nigeria commences the development of e-learning software for basic education in schools. Along with this, the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, discloses the promotion of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education to enhance the nation’s 10-Year Strategic Road Map.
- Tunisia’s Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister plans to immunize students of state universities and private schools, foreign students and higher education executives and employees from 2021-2022.
- West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) is officially set to begin next week on 16 August.
- To enable learners to go back to daily timetables, the Department of Basic Education in South Africa is mulling over easing social distancing requirements at schools.
- Kabarak University of Kenya gets approval from TVETA to establish an institute to offer 23 technical courses.

EURASIA UPDATES: Russian Universities Undertake Measures To Ensure Continuity Of Studies
- With international tourism back to normal, Turkey registers around 23,000-25,000 new daily cases. With its plans to start face-to-face education in early September, the country aims to ramp up its vaccination pace to curb the spread of the virus.
- Russian Universities have initiated talks with Indian Engineering and Medical colleges for practical training of their students in India, and to ensure continuity of studies during the pandemic.
STUDY DESTINATIONS UPDATE: Indian Students Getting Admission In UK Universities Witness An Increase Of 19%
- The International Education Industry Roundtable provided Australian government with an 18 month roadmap for recovery of International education of Australia
- With relaxation in travel rules, a record number of Indian students were accepted into UKuniversities and higher education courses through the country’s centralised application system in 2021, marking an increase of 19% over the previous year.
