ASIA UPDATES
- The Government of Nepal has declared to enact the Bill to amend and consolidate school education laws during the current session of the Parliament, wherein the President Educational Reform Programme will be strengthened and amended as the National Educational Reform Programme.
- Nearly 2,000 extra seats have been provided to accommodate the increase in Indian students who wish to pursue medical courses in Russian institutions, according to Valerii Khodzhaev, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Chennai.
- Indonesian President initiated a national education programme with the objective of speeding up equal quality of learning distribution across the country using digital technology and stressed offering significant assistance to teachers and students across the country, especially in areas with a lack of quality teachers.
- The NOX Foundation has announced the launch of NOXE Smart Schools in Sri Lanka, and integrated model of education aimed at improving current school systems by integrating emotionally intelligent AI, adaptive learning, and school-wide insight tools.
- Vietnam recently finished the first-ever AI Ethics training programme designed to provide participants with an understanding of both basic and higher-level knowledge of AI ethics, creating a more responsible digital transformation process.
AFRICA UPDATES
- Kenya’s Ministry of Education has revealed a 15-strong multi-agency taskforce to guide the implementation of a new national student database to rid schools of ghost learners and enhance resource allocation among schools.
- The Education Ministry said in a statement on Monday that the country will see the opening of 11 new Egyptian-Japanese Schools (EJS) next academic year 2025/2026, making the national number 69, and the development supports its vision to overhaul and modernise the national educational system.
- The Nigerian House of Representatives has passed a motion calling on the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) to ensure every Nigerian child receives free and compulsory education from Primary to Junior Secondary School without any cost to children.
