In the latest edition of QS World University Ranking, the number of Indian universities/ institutes in the top 100 subject rankings have increased from 8 to 12 this year. 25 programs (mostly engineering) offered by higher education institutions in India rank among the top 100 in the world in their respective subject category.
The Delhi Government is moving away from CBSE, and plans to have its own education board from 2021. Over 1000 schools in Delhi will be affiliated to a New Delhi Board of School Education in the upcoming 2021-2022 academic year.
In its efforts to boost the internationalization of higher education, the UGC has directed all universities to set-up an Office of International Affairs, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the Promotion of Indian Higher Education Abroad (PIHEA).
CISCE will conduct the ISC class 12 exams for 2021 from 8 April to 16 June. Practical exams will begin on 8 and 9 April whereas theory exams will be held from 5 May. Results are expected to be out by mid-July 2021.

Bangladesh announced that public and private universities in the country will resume in-person education on 24 May, while schools and colleges will reopen from 30 March.
Schools outside Sri Lanka’s western province that were closed due to the pandemic will reopen next week. Classes for all grades across all schools outside Colombo will recommence from 15 March.
The Nepal Government has decided to conduct the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) at the provincial level from this year. The exams are scheduled to take place from 27 May to 7 June.
LATEST UPDATES: SOUTH EAST ASIA
German and Korean languages will be taught as the mandatory first foreign language for students from 3rdto 12th grade over 10-years of formal education in the pilot teaching program. It aims to improve their communication skills in the two languages to meet the demand for foreign language interpreters and translators during integration.
3 Vietnamese universities are among the 606 institutions listed in the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) Emerging Economies University Rankings this year: Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), the Hanoi University of Science, and Technology (HUST), and the Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City. The Philippines has extended the school year for basic education to 10 July 2021. The Department of Education has also declared an intervention and remediation week from 1 to 12 March to address learning gaps among students. Schools in Malaysia are reopening in March and are ready to welcome back primary students for face-to-face learning while adhering to COVID-19 standard operating procedures. Secondary students will return to school in April post their mid-term break.
South Korea is set to invest over $240 billion in AI and Software education in 2021. The plan is to educate around 16,000 AI and Software specialists this year as part of the goal to foster a total of 100,000 high-tech workers across sectors by 2025.

The Fanshawe Worldwide Fair will be held from 12 – 25 March for all international students. Maple Assist has once again come on board as digital partners for South Asia. The virtual event for South Asia will be held on 19 and 20 March and will include an advising center for students to meet regional advisors, as well as academic and non-academic workshops of interest.
